SORA Technology’s efforts were featured in the Chunichi Shimbun newspaper on October 18, 2022.
The article featured SORA Technology’s drone and AI-based malaria eradication project, the SORA Malaria Control demonstration.
Malaria is a serious social issue in Africa, including Sierra Leone where the demonstration was conducted, and it is important to prevent the outbreak of malaria-carrying mosquitoes. Bowfly Control (LSM) by using drones and AI to efficiently detect puddles, which are the source of the mosquito larvae.
Africa Business Lead Umeda, who led the demonstration experiment, said, “Until now, we have been spraying disinfectants on all puddles. By limiting it to high-risk areas, we can reduce the amount of chemicals and labor, and cut costs by 60-70%,” he said in an interview.
Our CEO Kaneko also commented, “We hope to solve social issues and develop the Japanese aviation industry by introducing Japanese technology in emerging countries first.”
