STATION F
Station F is a business incubator for startups,
located in 13th arrondissement of Paris.
It is noted as the world’s largest startup facility
– Background of the Visit –
The manufacturers that now represent Japan also started their history as startups founded by young people just after World War II and have since become global companies leading the Japanese economy.
However, in recent years, the rate of startups opening and the number of unicorns (unlisted companies with a market capitalization of over billion dollars) have been lower than Europe and the United States.
Therefore, the Kishida administration has set 2022 as the “first year of startup creation” and is promoting various policies to further create startups that will transform social issues into engines of growth and realize a sustainable economic society.
In the future, the goal is to create 100 unicorns and 100,000 startups to make Japan the largest startup hub in Asia and one of the world’s leading startup clusters.
