The AI-driven infectious disease outbreak prediction system is Adopted as a program of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Japan

Aiming to contribute to the optimization of research projects and drug placement in African countries

SORA Technology Co., Ltd. (Head office: Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Founder and CEO: Yosuke Kaneko, hereinafter SORA Technology), which is tackling global health and climate change issues with AI and aerospace technology, announced that it has been selected for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s program for an AI-driven infectious disease outbreak prediction system that combines drones, satellite imagery and flood models, which it aims to adopt in Africa.
SORA Technology will conduct a local survey with the aim of introducing it in three countries: the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Ghana, and the Republic of Mozambique. By establishing an infectious disease prediction system, we aim to quickly identify signs of an outbreak of infectious diseases and contribute to optimizing the distribution of medical resources and other resources in countries and regions at risk.

AI-powered infectious disease spread prediction system

In addition to high-resolution aerial image data from SORA Technology’s unique drone, satellite image data, weather data, flood simulation results, etc. will be integrated and analyzed by AI to identify areas with a high risk of infection and strengthen preparedness for outbreaks.
In particular, infectious diseases (malaria, dengue fever, cholera, etc.) caused by severe disasters such as floods are regarded as the most recent target. Assuming a complex disaster such as an outbreak of a waterborne infectious disease after a flood occurs, we will grasp how measures against floods and measures against infectious diseases are currently being coordinated, and will also lead to risk assessment of infectious diseases associated with climate change, so as to increase the resolution of appeal points.

What is the Global South Future-oriented Co-creation Project Cost Subsidy?

It is a program organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to partially subsidize the expenses necessary for the implementation of FS projects and small-scale demonstration projects for overseas expansion of Japanese companies aiming to solve the issues facing global south countries.
Leveraging the growth potential of the global South region market, we aim to revitalize domestic industry by creating innovation in Japan and strengthen economic partnerships with global South countries.

About SORA Technology

Using drones and AI technology, we are tackling global issues such as climate change and health risks, and providing solutions in the following areas:
1. Measures against infectious diseases
SORA Technology is developing a prediction system and control support system to prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as malaria and cholera. By using AI to analyze climate data and infection patterns, it is possible to predict the risk of infection by region and time of year, and to take prompt measures.

2. Reduction of greenhouse gases in the agricultural sector
In particular, we focus on reducing methane gas and provide technology to monitor and reduce greenhouse gases generated by agricultural activities. We support efficient and sustainable agriculture through drone-based data collection and AI analysis.

3. Disaster response and climate change adaptation
We support responses to natural disasters (such as floods and droughts) that are increasing due to climate change, and provide solutions to help communities become more resilient to disasters and epidemics.

Through these initiatives, SORA Technology is contributing to the resolution of global health and climate change issues, aiming to realize a “sustainable society resistant to disasters and epidemics”.
