On August 19, 2022, coalition of Japanese business leaders supporting global health held an official side event of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 8), called “Global Health Action Japan – Japanese Companies’ Activities to Raise the Standard of Global Health Care”.
Totally eleven Japanese companies working to address global health disparities in various fields gathered at this event to present their efforts and achievements in contributing to global health as “Global Health Action”.
Bill Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was a special guest speaker at the session on how the private sector can lead the way in global health.
Bill Gates indicate support for the idea SORA Technology’s efforts by saying,
“Cool example. The life cycle of malaria starts when the mosquito larvae spring up. To eliminate malaria, we need to kill them at the larval stage.”
He also commented on the SORA Malaria Control, which has made control of the source of the mosquito larva 70% more efficient:
“It’s great to be able to say, ‘There’s no need for countermeasures here, so let’s move over there’. We also have a malaria team at the foundation, and I think it’s very promising”.
