SORA Technology Completes Second Close of Late Seed Round
JPY 400 million (USD 2.5 million) raised to accelerate
satellite, drone and AI-powered public health initiatives
SORA Technology Co., Ltd. (Headquartered in Nagoya, Japan; Founder & CEO: Yosuke Kaneko), a frontier technology startup addressing infectious diseases and climate change through drones and AI, today announced the second close of its late seed funding round in November 2025.
In this funding round, in addition to our existing shareholders, we welcomed three new investors: Daiwa House Group Investment Limited Partnership, Central Japan Innovative Research Fund Ⅰ, and UNERI Capital Fund Series 1.
With this financing, the total equity raised in this round amounts to approximately JPY400 million (approx. USD2.5 million). Leveraging the technologies developed and validated in regional Japan, we aim to create new core industries by addressing global social challenges.
Background
Infectious diseases, including malaria, continue to pose a significant global challenge. Malaria alone affects more than 200 million people annually—primarily in Africa—and results in approximately 600,000 deaths each year.
SORA Technology has been addressing this large-scale unmet need by developing data-driven malaria control solutions and infectious disease prediction and environmental analysis platforms, powered by satellites, drones, and AI.
In the field of infectious disease control, SORA Technology has advanced on-the-ground implementation across more than 10 African countries—including Ghana, Sierra Leone, Benin, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal, Kenya, and Mozambique—working closely with international organizations, national and local government agencies, universities and research institutions. Our primary focus has been on public-sector deployments.
In particular, in Mozambique, we have recently launched a new initiative in collaboration with Unitaid and the World Health Organization (WHO). Through these partnerships, we are expanding sustainable infectious disease control efforts within internationally coordinated frameworks.
Our technologies extend beyond the public health domain and are being applied across multiple sectors, including environmental and operational monitoring for private enterprises such as mining companies, as well as productivity enhancement and environmental impact reduction in agriculture.
In the mining sector in particular, our satellite-based solutions enable wide-area and continuous monitoring of surface changes and environmental risks. These capabilities are increasingly being adopted to support ESG compliance and risk management.
In the agricultural sector, we have implemented efficient farming operations by leveraging spraying drones and data analytics, while also developing carbon credit generation initiatives as part of climate change mitigation efforts in both Japan and Africa.
To support these initiatives, we continue to invest in satellite data analytics and related core technologies. By integrating drones and satellites, we are advancing a wide-area, high-frequency monitoring infrastructure that enables more precise, scalable, and data-driven decision-making.
Looking ahead, building on our proven track record across both public and private sectors and our continued investments in core technologies, we will further strengthen our operational capabilities and expand our business domains.
By doing so, we aim to scale our solutions as sustainable social infrastructure across infectious disease control, environmental monitoring, and the agriculture and natural resources sectors—contributing to the resolution of global challenges in a growing number of regions worldwide.

By combining CJIC’s global network with SORA Technology’s technical excellence, we are confident that their expansion across Africa and Asia will accelerate even further. We look forward to walking together as partners as they take flight on the world stage as the next-generation unicorn.

Masaki Kawai, CEO of UENRI Inc., Managing Partner, UENRI Capital/ UNERI Capital Fund Series 1
I am truly delighted to join SORA Technology, a company that is implementing malaria control initiatives across African and Asian countries using drones and AI, while carefully considering their impact on biodiversity and climate change.
From the perspective of effective altruism, which seeks evidence-based and high-impact forms of giving, one of the most rational approaches is “reducing child mortality through malaria prevention.” SORA Technology views this challenge as an opportunity and is building a business designed to scale globally as a “born-global” startup—an approach that is exceptionally rare on a global level.
We at UNERI look forward to supporting SORA Technology as it sets a new standard for Japanese startups and continues to grow on the international stage.
