SORA Technology Strengthens Its Africa Operations with the Appointment of Izumi Tomita and Misako Uehara
SORA Technology Inc. (Headquarters: Nagoya, Aichi; Founder & CEO: Yosuke Kaneko; hereinafter “SORA Technology”) is pleased to announce that, as of November 17, 2025, Izumi Tomita and Misako Uehara have joined the company to further accelerate its infectious disease control initiatives in Africa.

Izumi Tomita
Izumi began her career at Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd., working in accounting and human resources, where she developed strong skills in organizational operations, coordination, and process improvement. She was later dispatched to Senegal as a member of the JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteers.
Across three African countries—including Côte d’Ivoire and Ethiopia—she engaged in French–Japanese interpretation for partner government agencies, coordination with international organizations, and project management. In JICA’s water-sector projects, she was responsible for contract, progress, and report management, contributing to the reliable execution of multiple projects across Asia and Africa.
During her graduate studies in information and communication technology, Izumi conducted development and proof-of-concept research on a mobile application designed for non-literate populations in Senegal. After completing her degree, she worked on JICA projects in Rwanda, Uganda, and Ethiopia, focusing on ICT human resource development and startup ecosystem support.
She is dedicated to bringing practical, technology-based solutions to the real challenges faced by communities across Africa.
Misako Uehara
Misako has over 17 years of combined experience in IT project management and international development. She spent nearly a decade at NTT DATA, working on system development for retail and SPA brands, managing global e-commerce platform accounts, and serving as PMO for cross-border IT system rollouts. During this time, she also served as a JICA Volunteer in Ghana, providing ICT education at a vocational training institute for young women.
After completing her Master’s degree in Globalisation, Business and Development at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex, she joined JICA Headquarters. There, she managed private sector development programmes in Ethiopia and Kenya, supporting industrial policy dialogue, enterprise skills development, export promotion, and the launch of JICA’s NINJA startup support programme.
She later served as a long-term JICA Expert in Kenya for four years, overseeing a nationwide SME and startup support project across four major cities. In this role, she built partnerships with over 20 public- and private-sector institutions, supported more than 60 enterprises and entrepreneurs, strengthened regional innovation ecosystems, and led a gender-focused acceleration programme addressing gender-based violence (GBV).
Across her career, Misako has been committed to advancing sustainable and inclusive development through technology and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
With their addition, we will further strengthen our on-the-ground execution capabilities and our ability to engage with the international community, advancing our next-generation malaria control initiatives powered by drones and AI.
