【Announcement of Appointment】Mr. Tatsuo Mizuno Joins SORA Technology as Senior Advisor
Effective May 1, 2025, SORA Technology Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Tatsuo Mizuno as Senior Advisor for Malaria Strategy.
Mr. Mizuno is a distinguished expert in global public health and malaria control. During his tenure at Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd., he played a central role in expanding the company’s long-lasting insecticidal net (LLIN) business, known as Olyset Net, across Africa.
He led the establishment of a joint venture manufacturing facility in Tanzania and built a supply system capable of producing 30 million nets annually. Over a ten-year period, approximately 300 million LLINs were distributed globally under his leadership.
His work set a precedent for Japanese private-sector engagement in international health procurement, in collaboration with organizations such as the World Bank, USAID, UNICEF, WHO, and the Global Fund.
In 2012, Mr. Mizuno co-founded the certified non-profit organization Malaria No More Japan, serving as its founding Executive Director and Secretary General. He currently continues his engagement as Advisor, promoting malaria awareness and contributing to global health initiatives through public advocacy and policy engagement.
Upon his appointment, Mr. Mizuno shared the following message:
“I have long been passionate about transforming social issues into sustainable businesses.
SORA Technology’s mission—particularly in the field of malaria prevention in Africa—aligns closely with the challenges I have faced throughout my career.
You never know the right answer until you try. I’ve learned that business is often built by taking a step into the unknown and finding solid ground beneath your feet. I hope to apply those lessons to support SORA’s efforts.”
SORA Technology is committed to advancing sustainable, technology-driven solutions for infectious disease control. With Mr. Mizuno’s strategic guidance and deep field experience, we will further enhance our efforts to combat malaria and promote equitable access to health infrastructure across the African continent.
