SORA Technology Signs Comprehensive MoU with the Government of Cross River State, Nigeria to Advance Precision Agriculture
– Contributing to Higher Crop Productivity
and the Acceleration of Agricultural Digital Transformation –
SORA Technology, which provides advanced drone and AI solutions across public health, agriculture, and climate resilience, has signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Cross River State, Nigeria, to advance smart agriculture as well as irrigation and environmental monitoring across the State. The MoU was concluded during the Africa Investment Forum held in Rabat, Morocco.
Background and Purpose
Cross River State faces urgent challenges in improving the productivity of major staple and commercial crops such as maize, rice, soybean, cassava, sorghum, cocoa, and coffee. Recurring issues, including extreme weather driven by climate change, soil degradation, and post-harvest losses, continue to threaten agricultural development and rural livelihoods.
In response, the State Government is implementing strategies that aim to strengthen food security and improve the economic well-being of rural communities through enhanced agricultural and irrigation systems.
SORA Technology has been expanding its services in precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, efficient resource management, and climate-resilient agricultural systems using drone-based remote sensing and AI-powered analytics. Recognizing the alignment between the State’s policy priorities and SORA’s technological capabilities, both parties agreed to establish this partnership through the signing of the MoU.
Key Areas of Cooperation under the MoU
▼Collection and analysis of drone-based environmental data: To assess crop health, soil conditions, water stress, moisture distribution, and potential pest and disease risks.
▼Target crops: maize, rice, soybean, cassava, sorghum, cocoa, coffee, and other key staple and industrial crops in Cross River State.
▼Identification of suitable areas within the State for the deployment of SORA’s agri-tech solutions and establishment of operational collaboration frameworks.
