SORA Technology Co., Ltd. (Head office: Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Founder and CEO: Yosuke Kaneko, hereinafter SORA Technology), which is tackling global health and climate change issues with AI and aerospace technology, is pleased to announce that CEO Kaneko gave a lecture on infectious disease epidemic prediction (infectious disease intelligence) using drones and AI at the side event of the United Nations annual meeting held in New York, USA in September." By using high-resolution monitoring data using SORA Technology’s proprietary drones, it will help predict the future risk of infection and ensure the optimal deployment of vaccines when there are signs of an epidemic.

Pandemic prediction using infectious disease intelligence using drones and AI

SORA Technology provides an infectious disease epidemic prediction system that uses its own AI to analyze high-resolution monitoring data captured by drones. By identifying the signs of an infectious disease before it becomes a full-scale epidemic, we can identify communities at high risk of infection and contribute to infectious disease preparedness and optimal distribution of vaccines. In addition, drones can be flown on demand, allowing rapid risk mapping to be created and updated. This technology was shortlisted by the Global Vaccine Alliance (GAVI) Innovation Program INFUSE.

What is infectious disease intelligence?

In order to detect and assess public health risks posed by infectious diseases, and to determine prevention and control methods, this refers to activities that systematically and comprehensively collect, analyze, and interpret data on infectious diseases from all sources, and provide it as information (intelligence) that can be used for policy decision-making and practical decisions. By providing the results of information collection, analysis, and risk assessment to relevant ministries and agencies, it will be used for policy decisions and practical decisions. *

What is the GAVI INFUSE program?

A project called Innovation for Uptake, Scale and Equity in Immunisation (INFUSE) was launched at the 2016 World Economic Forum (Davos) by the Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance (a public-private partnership established in Switzerland in 2000 to protect the lives of children and the health of people by improving vaccination coverage in low-income countries. Utilizing the expertise of vaccine alliance partners, it is a forum for discussions to make innovations with a large impact accessible to more countries.

About SORA Technology

With the mission of “Transforming the way people live from the air,” we are developing not only measures against malaria, but also measures against infectious diseases that are greatly affected by climate change, such as dengue fever and yellow fever. With the aim of bringing reverse innovation to developed countries based on the data and technologies obtained from the businesses of countries in the Global South, we will realize a “sustainable society that is not defeated by disasters and epidemics using SORA”.
